FAQ's

What is Microblading/Shading?
Eyebrow Microblading is known by several names, including microshading, micropigmentation,
eyebrow embroidery, microstroking, 3D eyebrows, and eyebrow feathering. The names differ, the
procedures are relatively are the same.
Is considered to be a semi permanent tattoo procedure where a special handheld microblading
eyebrow pen to deposit pigments into the epidermis (superficial) layer of the skin. This
technique leaves eyebrows with a natural look, unlike eyebrow tattoos often look unnatural.

Microshading (Ombre):
This particular method of eyebrow embroidery gives the brow more of a "makeup/filled in look"
Clients that enjoy a very defined brow truly loves this brow. Many clients are loving the new
look because they're "get up and go" Not having to worry about filling in your brows daily. The
difference between Microblading and Microshading is that microblading will have a very natural
"hair stroke" in your brows to make them fuller. Microshading (Ombre') will look as if there is
powder applied to your brows daily. Both methods are definitely "Brow Goals" amazing natural
looking results!!As a licensed/certified artist, those that have a very thin/sparse brow would
prefer the microshading combo method.Whereas if you have oily skin, its preferred to choose ombre.

Clients can book consultation by contacting spa directly at
(757)833-4054 or schedule Microblading/Shading consultation from our booking site.

Does it hurt?
Pain tolerance may differ from client to client. Keeping in mind that pain is subjective, most
clients say they experience little or no discomfort during microblading. A topical Anesthetic gel is
applied prior to beginning the procedure to help aid in minimizing pain and discomfort.Reapplied through session as well.

How long does PMU last?
The healed results of microblading last between one and two years. Depending upon factors such as skin type, iron deficiency, pigment color (lighter colors may tend to fade faster), daily regimen, lifestyle, and environment. However, annual maintenance is recommended and/or color boost this ensures the brow pigment remains vibrant, fresh color, eyebrow maintenance such as waxing, tweeziing to remove unwanted hair.
Cosmetic tattooing is considered permanent as it does not wash away.
* Do not pick or pull scabs off. Apply thin layer of (Aquaphor) to eyebrow 1-2x weekly.
* We want our clients to have amazing results and avoid any chances of infections.

How long does the scheduled procedure take to complete?
The procedure itself takes approximately 2.5 hours. On your first visit, please expect
your appointment to last about 2.5 hours, which will include the consultation and pre-draw.
During your consultation, client and artist will discuss your preferences. Together, we will
pre-draw the shape and design of your brows, the tattooing process will not begin, until client
has approved the color and design that will satisfy the ideal shape for the client and a perfect
shape.

Is there any downtime?
You can go right back to work after the procedure. However, your brow area may feel tender
and slightly swollen for a few days. You may resume exercise after 7 days. I advise against
swimming or drenching your brows with water for 7 week, until your brows are fully healed.
Clients brows will be slightly darker than normal, and brows will go through a peeling
period, until fading 30% of pigment.

What is the healing process for clients?
Client brows should be fully healed within 7-10 days, but a touch up is needed in 4 weeks
after first procedure to ensure the pigment has not faded and is perfectly shaped for approval of
client.

What will my brows look like while they are healing?
The tattoo will look up to 30% darker and larger during the first week, until it fully heals. During
the healing process, the tattoo may form a light scab or crust. This is not very noticeable and
can be concealed with brow gel or powder after 6 days until the scab fully comes off in 7-10
days. We suggest NO MAKEUP is applied for 5-7 days because it is an open cut on your brows
and we want our clients to have amazing results.

How do I properly maintenance the life of my eyebrow microblading/shading (PMU)?
To keep your tattoo looking its best, avoid splashing it with water for the first week after the
procedure. Always wear sunscreen on the tattooed area when you are exposed to the sun or it
can fade. Avoid exfoliating the tattooed area and wax your brows, the newly grown in area. Try
not to wax the actual microbladed area of your brows, as it can fade the tattoo.

How long should I wait before my second session (4 week) touch-up appointment?
The second session should be scheduled 4 weeks after the initial procedure and is free of
charge. This appointment is to perfect the shape and color of your tattoo and to darken any
areas that may have healed too light.

How often will I need to maintain my eyebrows/touch-ups?
After the initial touch-up, your tattoo will not fade completely for 1-3 year. Scheduling
touch-ups are highly recommended at least once a year to keep the color and shape fresh. Some may need to routinely have brow waxes, or preferred method of hair removal technique in order to keep eyebrows well manicured.

Will I still need to fill in my brows with makeup?
No, PMU is not meant to entirely replace makeup. However, the purpose of PMU is to stop you from having to apply makeup daily.
Does microblading/shading prevent hair growth?
Microblading/shading will neither prevent nor encourage future hair loss in the brow area.

Client would still need to have eyebrows waxed, threaded or any other method of hair removal?
Yes, Regular routine visit for shaping whether your preferred method is Waxing, tweezing,
threading should be done every 3-4 weeks. It is important that your microblading (PMU) artist
maintenance brows outside of just tattooing techniques.
